My Backyard Fountain, Port Townsend, WA
This is my backyard fountain that I built to attract birds. I built it for less than $100 -- two pumps and tubes, two trash bags, two old planter bottoms, a plastic cement mixing batch tub, and a bunch of rocks and branches for decorations.
The keys to attracting birds are 1) the sound of falling water; and 2) vegetation cover above and around the fountain (but not such that a cat can approach).

These mylar ribbons, tacked the top middle of each window, move in the slightest breeze, helping birds to avoid the windows. Note the black falcon decoys on the two high windows are barely visible.

August 21, 2017. This camera was perched on a sagebrush bluff looking down at the town of Unity, Oregon. The high school is the white building near the center of the screen. Rocking video as usual. Beautiful calm buildups like these are very rare in young teams that have too much energy to waste. This is also rare whether it is at the club or recreational level.
